It operates an 80-acre quarry and crushing plant in Westerly, Rhode Island and has the capability to put portable facilities on construction sites. Founded in 1955, Cherenzia Excavation, Inc. has performed as the site contractor on all types of projects for all types of business and industry. For the robust tourist industry of the area it has built, expanded and rebuilt several golf courses, participated in the construction of the world's largest casino and been the site contractor for the heralded expansion of Mystic Marinelife Aquarium. It has worked for the area's industrial leaders, servicing as site contractor for the massive Pfizer Research Center and at Electric Boat as it transitions from a production emphasis to research and design. Cherenzia has served the retail business community including sites for national giants BJ's Wholesale, A&P Supermarket, and Walmart. At the same time it has performed on behalf of community institutions such as, The Westerly Hospital, Norwich Savings Society, The Westerly-Pawcatuck YMCA and The Washington Trust Company. Governmental projects include acting as general contractor for the replacement and upgrade of the infrastructure at the University of Connecticut - Avery Point campus, infra-structure replacement and site preparation at the United States Submarine Base, landfill closure for the Towns of Stonington and Groton, Connecticut and numerous water and sewer line installations. Its residential projects have included multi-family complexes, subdivisions and elderly housing projects.
